About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a fast-growing, specialist engineering organisation operating within the UK power and energy infrastructure sector. The business delivers end-to-end solutions across grid connections, high voltage design, and renewable energy projects. With a strong pipeline of work across solar, battery storage, and private network infrastructure, they are now looking to appoint a Design Engineer to support and lead technical delivery across LV to 132kV projects.

The Role

You will play a key role in delivering electrical design solutions across a diverse portfolio of grid connection and energy projects. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for reviewing connection offers and producing high-quality, buildable designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review DNO/IDNO connection offers and technical documentation.
  • Produce and review designs from LV up to 132kV.
  • Develop single line diagrams, cable routes, and substation layouts.
  • Specify transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Undertake cable sizing, CT/VT studies, and auxiliary system design.
  • Support renewable energy projects (Solar & BESS) at concept and detailed design stage.
  • Coordinate with construction and operations teams to ensure practical delivery.
  • Manage design interfaces and external subcontractors.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience within HV design, utilities, or EPC environments
  • Strong understanding of UK grid connection processes (DNO/IDNO/ICP)
  • Experience designing up to 132kV networks.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of BSEN, IEC, IEEE & CENELEC standards
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
