Location: London (Hybrid; 3 days per week onsite)

We're supporting a major UK Government department looking for a Commercial Leader who thrives on delivering massive-scale digital procurement strategies to join their team on a contract basis.

In this role you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of technical, delivery, and commercial specialists. You will be the driving force behind a landmark digital and cloud procurement initiative that bridges the public and private sectors. We need a commercial strategist who has successfully steered complex, end-to-end procurement lifecycles, negotiated with major hyperscale cloud providers, and can manage senior stakeholders with competing priorities.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Commercial Strategy: Lead end-to-end procurement and digital/cloud commercial strategy for a high-priority, fast-paced programme.
  • Act as a High-Level Business Partner: Serve as the core relationship holder and account manager between technical delivery experts, internal departments, and external suppliers.
  • Navigate Ambiguity: Step into a newly formed team, cutting through the noise to create certainty, establish consensus, and ensure milestones are hit.
  • Bridge the Technical & Commercial: Translate complex technical/digital infrastructure requirements for non-technical audiences and vice versa.

Who You Are:

  • Comfortable operating at Head of Commercial, Category Director, or Senior Procurement Lead level with a strong leadership presence.
  • Extensive experience across a mix of commercial private sectors and public sector.
  • Proven experience negotiating and managing commercial/ procurement agreements with major cloud infrastructure providers.
  • Data and outcomes driven.
  • Possess an expert grasp of procurement regulations and commercial policy, but with the problem-solving mindset to adapt current policies to fast-paced digital acquisition scenarios.
  • CIPS commercial qualification (Highly desirable/Preferred).
