Role Overview

As a Principal Software Engineer specialising in verification, you will play a crucial role in advancing their safety-critical software products, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and guiding technical directions across projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the verification and validation processes for safety-critical embedded software products.
- Develop and implement testing strategies aligned with recognised safety standards.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive verification coverage.
- Contribute to the design and review of embedded software architecture.
- Produce detailed technical documentation to support certification and quality assurance.
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and fostering a culture of excellence.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
- Extensive experience in embedded C programming and assembler.
- Proven track record in designing and verifying safety-critical software.
- Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems, ideally FreeRTOS or SAFERTOS.
- Experience working within controlled development environments.
- Hands‑on experience with low‑level hardware work at processor level, e.g., Cortex M3/M4, A7.
- Knowledge of safety standards such as IEC 61508, DO 178B/C, ISO26262, or IEC 62304.
- Strong understanding of software lifecycle management and configuration control.
- Good grasp of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and embedded security practices.
- Demonstrable problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working with multicore architectures including ARM, MIPS, or Power.
- Familiarity with safety certification processes across various standards.
- Exposure to international safety and security practices.
- Experience in designing for diverse hardware environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
