They are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Maritime Engineer to join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team working on major projects within the water and maritime sector. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure schemes, supporting both UK and international programmes across the full project lifecycle.

As a Principal Maritime Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate teams delivering complex maritime design projects.
  • Produce and review technical deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings, scopes).
  • Provide technical expertise across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and key milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team capability growth.
  • Contribute to bid development and technical proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards, codes, and quality assurance processes.

About You

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
  • Strong experience within a design consultancy environment.
  • Proven leadership in managing engineering design teams.
  • Expertise in maritime structures such as berthing structures, quay walls, dolphins, and port infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of UK design standards and CDM regulations.
  • Experience with wave modelling / overtopping tools.
  • Background in the water sector is essential.
  • Experience in sectors such as energy or defence is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex engineering challenges.
