An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Engineer to join a highly skilled aerospace engineering team supporting structural repair activities across commercial aircraft programmes. This role sits within a multidisciplinary repair engineering environment focused on delivering complex structural repair solutions for metallic and composite aircraft structures. The successful candidate will work closely with Design and Static Stress teams to assess, validate, and justify repairs for in-service aircraft damage and major repair activities.

The F&DT Engineer will be responsible for performing fatigue and damage tolerance analysis and producing technical justifications for repair solutions. The role involves supporting both planned repair programmes and rapid turnaround repair activities while ensuring compliance with airworthiness and structural integrity requirements. The position offers exposure to complex aerospace engineering challenges and continued airworthiness processes within a fast-paced repair environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Fatigue & Damage Tolerance analysis for metallic and composite aircraft structures
  • Produce technical dossiers, justification reports, and repair assessments using approved engineering methods and toolsets
  • Work closely with Design and Static Stress Engineers to develop optimum repair solutions
  • Support major repair activities and complex structural investigations
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams, offshore teams, and external suppliers
  • Lead or coordinate packages of repair analysis work when required
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of repair analysis methods and processes
  • Support inspection process development alongside NDT specialists
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations, engineering standards, and manufacturing capability requirements
  • Support wider aircraft structure areas when required, including fuselage, empennage, and high-lift devices
Required Experience & Skills
  • Degree qualified in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong aerospace Fatigue & Damage Tolerance engineering background
  • Experience performing F&DT analysis on aircraft structures
  • Experience using engineering methods and toolsets such as ISAMI and GISEH
  • Ability to generate technical reports and engineering justifications
  • Strong understanding of metallic and composite aircraft structures
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and continued airworthiness processes
  • Ability to assess how repair designs impact aircraft structural integrity and fatigue performance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver technically sound solutions within tight deadlines
