They are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Maritime Engineer to join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team working on major projects within the water and maritime sector. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure schemes, supporting both UK and international programmes across the full project lifecycle.
As a Principal Maritime Engineer, you will:
- Lead and coordinate teams delivering complex maritime design projects.
- Produce and review technical deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings, scopes).
- Provide technical expertise across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and key milestones.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team capability growth.
- Contribute to bid development and technical proposals.
- Ensure compliance with design standards, codes, and quality assurance processes.
About You
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
- Strong experience within a design consultancy environment.
- Proven leadership in managing engineering design teams.
- Expertise in maritime structures such as berthing structures, quay walls, dolphins, and port infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of UK design standards and CDM regulations.
- Experience with wave modelling / overtopping tools.
- Background in the water sector is essential.
- Experience in sectors such as energy or defence is advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex engineering challenges.
