We're partnering with a highly technical, early-stage organisation building a next-generation, AI-driven decision platform. They're looking for a Principal / Lead Mathematician to own the mathematical foundation that underpins the entire system. This is a rare opportunity to sit at the heart of product design - translating human problem-solving processes into rigorous mathematical, algorithmic and optimisation models that power summarisation, semantic search, and decision-support workflows.

You'll lead the design and validation of core algorithms, working closely with Data Scientists and Engineers to embed mathematically sound models into a modular, cloud-native platform.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing end-to-end mathematical models that translate real-world workflows into executable system logic
  • Applying algebraic modelling, graph theory, optimisation and statistics to complex, unstructured data problems
  • Prototyping and validating algorithms in Python and MATLAB
  • Shaping the mathematical backbone of vector search, intent extraction and LLM-driven workflows
  • Producing clear, auditable documentation in LaTeX and Jupyter
