A growing global technology company is hiring an experienced Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to join a small, highly skilled EMEA sales team, acting as the primary technical interface to partners and customers across the region. The company designs and markets test instrumentation and solutions for network synchronisation and network emulation, enabling customers to validate performance of critical telecoms/network infrastructure.

Location / Working Model

  • Based in UK offices (Scotland or Northern Ireland), or remote from Europe
  • Hybrid (UK office-based roles): typically 2 days in office (Tues/Thurs) and 3 days home where feasible (manager/business dependent)
  • Travel up to 50% across EMEA

What you'll do

  • Build deep understanding of the company's product lines, specifications, and real-world applications
  • Gather and analyse customer technical requirements and map them to solutions
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support in a consultative style, including:
    • assessing product fit vs customer requirements
    • helping define testing requirements
    • supporting test topology / measurement configuration design
    • debugging, issue analysis, results interpretation
    • delivering technical training (remote + onsite)
  • Partner internally with Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Operations to feed customer/market requirements into product direction
  • Support customer visits, trade fairs and interoperability events (plugfests)
  • Contribute technical input to commercial proposals and opportunity identification

What you'll need (essential)

  • Ability to learn products quickly and become a credible technical expert
  • 3+ years supporting products/protocols used in Ethernet networks
  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • Customer-facing technical experience (direct interaction)
  • Programming/scripting experience (ideally Python)
  • Strong troubleshooting/problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication—able to explain complex topics to varied audiences
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Independent, self-starter approach; adaptable and able to prioritise in changing environments
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking and/or synchronisation testing (preferred/beneficial)
