Adults Safeguarding Social Worker – Court of Protection & Section 42 Safeguarding

Salary: £45,510 – £46,512 + £5k Golden handshake + £3k Retention Bonus (recurring yearly)
Brent Council is looking to appoint 3 experienced Adults Safeguarding Social Worker to join their Adult Social Care team on a permanent basis. These roles are focused on Court of Protection work and leading safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 (1 & 2) of the Care Act 2014.
This is a fantastic opportunity for seasoned practitioners who are confident working with complex adult safeguarding concerns and legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act.
- Apply the Mental Capacity Act and contribute to Court of Protection applications and proceedings.
- Work closely with legal teams, health professionals, and other agencies.
- Make defensible, evidence-based decisions in high-risk and complex situations.
- Provide clear, timely and accurate recording and reporting.
About You:
- Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration.
- Proven experience leading Section 42 (1 & 2) safeguarding enquiries.
- Direct involvement in cases that have progressed to the Court of Protection.
- Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and associated legislation.
- Able to demonstrate practical application of the law, not just theoretical knowledge.
