We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Data Officer to lead the next phase of our client’s data evolution — moving from fragmented data management to a truly data-driven enterprise. This is a pivotal executive role for a commercially minded data leader who thrives in complex, high-growth, regulated environments. You will embed a data-led culture across the organisation, unlocking the value of data through scalable platforms, trusted governance, and advanced analytics that directly drive commercial and operational outcomes.

With foundational data and technology capabilities already in place, the focus now is on execution, scale, and impact — building modern data platforms, enabling enterprise-wide data adoption, and ensuring data becomes a core strategic asset powering growth, efficiency, and innovation.

The Role

As Chief Data Officer, you will own the end-to-end enterprise data agenda — from strategy and governance through to platform delivery, analytics, and AI enablement. You will be a core member of the senior leadership team, shaping business strategy while ensuring the organisation can operationalise data at scale.

You will bring together data engineering, analytics, governance, and data science capabilities to create a unified data ecosystem that empowers decision-making, product innovation, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Enterprise Data Strategy & Execution: Define and deliver a clear enterprise data strategy aligned to business growth and digital transformation priorities; embed data-driven decision making across the organisation by improving data accessibility, quality, and trust; ensure the organisation can operationalise data at scale through modern data architecture and robust governance frameworks.
  • Build a Scalable Data Platform: Lead the development of a modern, cloud-based data platform that supports analytics, AI, and real-time data products; create scalable data pipelines, architecture, and tooling that enable rapid data consumption across teams; balance innovation with governance, ensuring performance, resilience, and compliance across the data estate.
  • Enable Advanced Analytics, AI and Data Science: Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI capabilities to unlock new commercial and operational opportunities; enable product, commercial, and operational teams to leverage data insights to improve customer experience, growth, and efficiency; translate complex data capabilities into measurable business value; define enterprise standards for data quality, security, lineage, and compliance; ensure robust governance frameworks are in place to meet regulatory, privacy, and security requirements; create clear ownership and stewardship models across the organisation.
  • Build & Scale High-Performing Data Teams: Develop and lead world-class teams across data engineering, analytics, governance, and data science; create a strong data culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement; structure teams to deliver scalable data capabilities that support the entire organisation.
  • Unlock Commercial Value from Data: Identify opportunities to monetise data and develop data-enabled products or services; partner with Product, Technology, Commercial, and Finance leaders to embed data into strategic decision making; ensure data initiatives are prioritised based on measurable commercial impact and organisational value.

About You

You are a strategic yet pragmatic data leader with the credibility to operate at executive level and the experience to deliver real organisational change. Proven track record building and scaling enterprise data platforms in complex regulated organisations. Deep experience leading Data Science, Analytics, and Data Engineering functions through transformation and growth. Strong understanding of modern data architectures including cloud data platforms, real-time data pipelines, and data lakehouse environments. Experience embedding enterprise data governance frameworks and improving data quality at scale. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data capabilities into measurable business outcomes. Experience leading data and analytics initiatives that enable advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI adoption.

Leadership Attributes

  • Data-driven operator — focused on turning information into measurable business value
  • Strategic thinker — able to connect enterprise data capabilities to long-term growth strategy
  • Execution-focused — delivers scalable platforms and real outcomes, not just strategy
  • Commercially minded — understands how data drives revenue, efficiency, and competitive advantage
  • Collaborative leader — builds strong partnerships across Product, Technology, and Commercial teams
  • Inspiring communicator — translates complex data concepts into clear business narratives
  • Resilient and adaptive — comfortable navigating complexity, ambiguity, and organisational change
  • Comfortable operating strategically and in the detail, ensuring data initiatives deliver tangible impact
