A globally established organisation is seeking an experienced Databricks Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern, scalable cloud data platforms. This role will focus on architecting enterprise-grade Lakehouse solutions, designing secure and high-performing data frameworks, and driving data transformation initiatives across a complex Azure environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable Lakehouse, warehouse and enterprise data architectures
  • Build and optimise ETL / ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks
  • Design data solutions using Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory and cloud storage services
  • Lead greenfield Lakehouse framework implementations
  • Define conceptual, logical and physical data models
  • Establish data governance, security and compliance standards
  • Implement partitioning, clustering and optimisation strategies for performance and scalability
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Contribute hands-on development using PySpark, SQL and Python
  • Support CI/CD and DevOps practices using Git-based version control
  • Present architectural designs to governance and review forums

Essential Skills:

  • Strong experience designing ETL / ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Factory
  • Strong experience implementing Lakehouse architecture in greenfield environments
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling and enterprise data architecture
  • Experience implementing data governance, metadata and security frameworks
  • Experience working across enterprise-scale cloud data landscapes
  • Strong understanding of performance optimisation and data management strategies
  • Experience with PySpark, SQL and Python Spark
