A globally established organisation is seeking a Senior GCP VDC Network Engineer to join a Public Cloud Platform function, driving scalable, secure and compliant Google Cloud networking solutions across enterprise environments. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on designing and modernising cloud network services while enabling rapid, seamless cloud adoption.
The position is suited to an experienced GCP networking specialist who combines deep technical capability with strong collaboration skills, enjoys working in cross-functional feature teams and can lead technical growth within engineering environments.
Responsibilities:- Design, implement and manage GCP Virtual Data Centre network architecture for enterprise workloads
- Configure and maintain VPCs, subnets, firewalls, routing and peering for secure and scalable connectivity
- Implement hybrid connectivity solutions including Cloud VPN and Interconnect for on-premise and multi-cloud integration
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code for network resources using Terraform and Terraform Cloud
- Automate network provisioning and configuration workflows using Python
- Enforce GCP organisation policies covering network security, encryption and access control
- Integrate network deployments into CI/CD pipelines to enable automated provisioning and updates
- Implement policy-as-code guardrails for network governance
- Optimise network performance, reliability and resilience through monitoring and proactive tuning
- Collaborate with security teams to implement best practice network controls
- Support migration of legacy network configurations into unified, reusable templates
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking issues across GCP VDC environments
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within the team
- Strong hands-on experience with GCP networking including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, routing and peering
- Proven experience delivering hybrid connectivity using Cloud VPN and Interconnect
- Strong Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform and Terraform Cloud
- Python scripting for automation and tooling
- Experience integrating network automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of GCP organisation policies and policy-as-code frameworks
- GCP certification, ideally Professional Cloud Network Engineer
- Experience with enterprise cloud engineering platforms
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability
- Experience operating as a senior SME within cloud engineering teams
