A leading Central Government organisation is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing platform team on an initial 4-month contract. This role will focus on building, maintaining and improving cloud infrastructure supporting complex internal government platforms. The successful candidate will be a hands-on engineer with strong experience across AWS, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes and CI/CD, capable of contributing immediately without requiring significant ramp-up time.

Experience & Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience building and supporting cloud infrastructure within AWS environments.
  • Proven expertise with Kubernetes, containerisation technologies and orchestration platforms, including Docker, ECS and ideally EKS.
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform.
  • Experience designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
  • Good understanding of AWS security, IAM, access controls and operational best practices.
  • Experience supporting complex production systems and large-scale platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation, tickets and progress updates.
  • Experience identifying and escalating risks, issues and dependencies effectively.
  • Government or public sector experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience working on internal-facing platforms, data platforms or analytical platforms would be advantageous.
