An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Python Developer to join a large scale technology environment, developing automation solutions, backend services and tooling supporting complex telecoms and network operations.

This Senior Python Developer is a hands-on engineering position with a strong focus on Python, REST APIs, automation and backend development. You will work across applications supporting testing, monitoring and operational efficiency within 5G and enterprise platforms, with exposure to Linux, Docker, CI/CD, databases and network technologies.

The role would suit a strong Python Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to work across both software engineering and network automation.

Responsibilities for the Senior Python Developer:

  • Design, develop and maintain Python based automation frameworks and scripts supporting network testing, data processing and operational workflows.
  • Build RESTful APIs using Flask and FastAPI for internal services and cross team integrations.
  • Develop lightweight web based dashboards and interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Jinja2.
  • Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis for application, configuration and testing data.
  • Build and maintain Docker and Docker Compose environments for application deployment and testing.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Develop Linux automation using Bash, shell scripting and cron jobs.
  • Integrate Python applications with telecom network systems and APIs.
  • Build automated validation, health checking and service monitoring capabilities.
  • Implement effective logging, monitoring and error handling across automation services.
  • Work closely with QA, Network Engineering and DevOps teams to identify and deliver automation opportunities.
  • Support the development of scalable, reliable and maintainable engineering solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience for the Senior Python Developer:

  • Strong commercial Python development experience.
  • Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs using Flask and/or FastAPI.
  • Experience with API authentication, error handling and documentation.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and Jinja2 for lightweight web interfaces.
  • Strong database experience across SQL and NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
  • Experience with MongoDB and/or Redis.
  • Strong experience working within Linux environments, including Bash and shell scripting.
  • Experience building and deploying applications using Docker and Docker Compose.
  • Experience with CI/CD, ideally Jenkins and/or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Strong Git/version control experience.
  • Experience with Python automation libraries such as Requests, Paramiko, Subprocess, Schedule and Pandas.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals including HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS and SSH.

Desirable Skills for the Senior Python Developer:

  • Telecoms or network automation experience.
  • Knowledge of 4G Core, 5G or Service Based Architecture (SBA).
  • Experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka and event driven architectures.
  • OpenStack experience.
  • Infrastructure as Code knowledge.
  • Test automation experience using Pytest, Selenium or Playwright.
  • Monitoring experience using Grafana, ELK Stack or Prometheus.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
