The role
On behalf of a central government department, I'm looking for a senior Programme Director / Digital Director to lead a major Enterprise DDaT transformation programme.
This is a high-profile role within the CDIO group, which has responsibility for technology, digital delivery, and digital frameworks and policies supporting the wider department and its external partners.
The department is bringing together former organisational functions and establishing a unified Enterprise DDaT capability.
The successful candidate will take overall accountability for shaping and delivering this transformation, establishing the programme structure, target operating model, governance and delivery approach.
The role will involve
- Leading a complex, multi-departmental Enterprise DDaT transformation
- Establishing the programme structure, governance and delivery architecture
- Designing and embedding the target DDaT operating model
- Bringing together teams, capabilities, systems and cultures across organisational boundaries
- Developing effective multi-vendor and external partnership arrangements
- Working with senior stakeholders to build consensus and drive decisions
- Managing significant transformation risks and reporting into senior governance and Executive Boards
- Providing clear leadership and direction in a complex and evolving environment
We're looking for someone with
- Significant senior leadership experience within the Civil Service, ideally at SCS level
- A strong track record leading large-scale digital, technology or organisational transformation programmes
- Experience establishing programmes or operating models in complex, matrixed environments
- Deep understanding of Enterprise DDaT operating models, service delivery structures and capability planning
- Strong experience working across multiple organisations, suppliers and senior stakeholder groups
- The confidence to operate at Executive level and navigate complex organisational and stakeholder dynamics
- Experience of major transformation governance, risk management and Board-level reporting
- The ability to create structure, direction and pace where there is significant ambiguity or change
This is a particularly strong opportunity for an experienced Digital Director, DDaT leader, Programme Director or senior transformation leader who has operated at the intersection of digital strategy, operating model design and large-scale delivery within central government.
