We’re working with a leading regional contractor with a strong track record of delivering prestigious infrastructure projects across North Wales. Following the award of a significant pipeline of work with Welsh Water, they are looking to appoint a Design Manager / Design Project Manager to lead the design management of several DCWW Design & Build projects across North Wales. The Role This is a hybrid Design Management / Project Management position, taking projects from outline through to detailed design and, where appropriate, into construction. You’ll take ownership of the technical and design aspects of each project, working alongside the Project Manager, Site Agent, and Quantity Surveyor. Design is delivered entirely through external consultants, so this is a design leadership and management role, rather than a design production position. Key responsibilities include: * Leading design from outline through to detailed design. * Managing multidisciplinary external consultants across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines. * Managing design programmes, deliverables, interfaces and technical queries. * Challenging designs from a constructability, programme and commercial perspective. * Ensuring designs are delivered on time, within budget and to DCWW requirements. * Working closely with site and commercial teams to ensure buildability and delivery considerations are embedded in the design. * Liaising with DCWW project, operational and technical teams. * Supporting projects through construction, commissioning and handover. The Candidate We’re open-minded on background. You could be a: * Design Manager * Design Coordinator * Site Agent / Project Manager with strong design experience * Project Engineer / Senior Engineer with relevant design management experience A water/wastewater background would be advantageous, but candidates from broader civil engineering and infrastructure sectors will also be considered. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership, manage external consultants, challenge technical solutions and ensure designs are practical, buildable and ready for delivery. The Opportunity An excellent opportunity to join a well-established regional contractor with a strong Welsh Water pipeline, providing long-term project security and the opportunity to play a key role in delivering major infrastructure projects across North Wales
