An opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in Health & Safety We are recruiting for a Health & Safety Co-ordinator on behalf of an established and successful family-owned business operating across shopfitting, construction and manufacturing. This is a varied role supporting the Health & Safety function across the company's head office, manufacturing workshop and UK-wide site projects. We are particularly interested in hearing from bright, capable administrators with a good understanding of compliance who are looking to develop their career in Health & Safety. You don't necessarily need extensive H&S experience. What matters is that you have a genuine interest in Health & Safety, understand the importance of compliance and are keen to learn and develop. The environment This is a busy operational business, combining a manufacturing workshop with construction and shopfitting projects across the UK. As a result, this is not a role where every day follows a predictable routine. Projects and priorities can change, sometimes at short notice, and the successful candidate will need to be comfortable responding to those changes. We're looking for someone who can bring structure and organisation while also being practical, adaptable and able to think on their feet. You might be working on documentation and compliance one minute, speaking with a workshop manager the next, and then helping resolve an issue relating to a live site or operational requirement. If you enjoy variety and being involved in finding practical solutions, rather than simply following a checklist, this could be an excellent opportunity. The role Working alongside the Health & Safety Manager, you will support the business with the day-to-day co-ordination of Health & Safety and compliance activities. Your responsibilities will include: * Carrying out risk assessments and identifying practical ways to reduce risk. * Monitoring and updating risk assessments. * Co-ordinating the preparation and review of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Planning and co-ordinating employee Health & Safety inductions and maintaining accurate records. * Liaising with Team Leaders and Managers regarding H&S concerns. * Supporting the implementation and close-out of corrective actions. * Collecting and analysing accident, incident and near-miss information. * Assisting with incident investigations, reports and recommendations. * Conducting regular safety audits and inspections. * Managing head office PPE procurement and expenditure. * Co-ordinating company asset management and maintaining accurate asset registers. * Monitoring inspection, servicing and certification dates for company assets. * Supporting the replacement or disposal of assets where required. * Helping to promote a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture. * Participating in Health & Safety committee meetings and producing accurate minutes. * Working with the Site H&S Officer to produce and maintain site files, both online and offline. * Acting as the superuser/administrator for Work Wallet. * Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and HSE developments. * Providing general support to the Health & Safety Manager across a range of compliance and H&S activities. About you We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds. You could be an experienced Health & Safety Co-ordinator, or you may currently work in compliance, administration, quality, manufacturing, construction or another operational environment and be looking to move into Health & Safety. We'd particularly like to hear from candidates who have: * A genuine interest in Health & Safety and a desire to develop their knowledge. * Good understanding of compliance and the importance of maintaining accurate records and following actions through. * Strong organisational and administrative skills. * The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment. * A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach. * The confidence to communicate with people at different levels of the business. * The ability to work independently and use initiative. * The flexibility to respond positively when priorities change. * Good Microsoft Word and Excel skills. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) would be advantageous but is not essential. Similarly, previous H&S experience would be beneficial, but we are happy to consider someone with the right transferable experience, attitude and willingness to learn. The person we're looking for The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys getting involved and making things happen. A background in construction, shopfitting, manufacturing, engineering, quality or compliance could work particularly well. Above all, we're looking for someone with a genuine desire to make Health & Safety a key part of their career. The opportunity This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business and work closely with an experienced Health & Safety Manager, gaining exposure to a broad range of H&S, compliance and operational activities. For the right person, there is genuine scope to develop their knowledge, qualifications and career within Health & Safety
