We are proud to be working with a well-established and highly respected groundworks and civil engineering contractor, renowned for delivering complex infrastructure packages on some of the region's most prestigious projects. With thriving offices in Cardiff and Bristol and multiple live sites valued between £2M and £40M, the company is experiencing continued growth and an increase in tender opportunities. As a result, they are now looking to expand their commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Estimator.
As Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction process, taking the lead on the preparation of competitive and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects. You will also support the development of junior team members and contribute to the strategic growth of the region.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for groundwork and civil engineering projects.
- Work from first principles to build up accurate construction rates.
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Liaise with clients, engineers, and supply chain partners to obtain the most competitive and viable pricing.
- Assist in bid reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering processes.
- Mentor and support a junior estimator, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Work closely with the wider pre-construction and operational teams.
- Proven experience in estimating within a civil engineering or groundworks environment.
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to work from first principles estimating.
- Familiarity with tender processes on projects ranging from £2M to £40M.
- Ideally, experience using Valesco estimating software (not essential).
- Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
- A team player with a proactive and collaborative approach.
