A manufacturing company based in South Wales is seeking a highly motivated Prepress Assistant to join its busy Prepress Department. This is a key support role within the team, responsible for ensuring high-quality lithographic material preparation and providing print-ready components to the Production Team. You will oversee the storage and production of print plates, manage pre-production requirements, and assist with the development of new print projects. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

MAIN DUTIES (NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST)

  • Inputting formulas onto technical sheet for production.
  • Ordering print plate material & all necessary materials when required for department.
  • Housekeeping of Plate making machines and equipment.
  • Making any replacement plates when damaged or marked during production.
  • Checking weekly forward schedule & daily schedule for new products.
  • Log storage of proofing samples & artwork until approved by customer.
  • Attend a meeting prior to pre-launch meeting to discuss approved samples, negatives/plates used before proceeding with origination.
  • Prepare product box for pre-launch meeting with all relevant information (samples, technical sheet).
  • Assisting Pre-Press Manager in new projects carried out within dept. (ie new plate technology).
  • Ensuring proofer has all relevant material.
  • Discussing & preparing all trial artwork jobs with Pre Press Manager and Lead Printer.
  • Assisting with Lead Printer with requirements necessary for production.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in written form.
  • Must be numerate and sound at arithmetic.
  • Ability to differentiate between colours.
  • Good I.T. skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others. Must possess an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative and drive to succeed.
  • Experience with Graphic Design, art work or plate making - advantageous.
  • Experience using Adobe, Artpro & Packx - advantageous.
  • Communication with other departments and suppliers forms a large part of the job.
  • Ability to concentrate and have good attention to detail.

Qualifications/ Education

  • Good standard of general education.
  • Experience of Lithography or origination.
  • Full training will be given.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Tools and Equipment Used: Eyeglass, Guillotine, Photocopier, Print Plates, Varilux imager, Jetline plate processor, Dantex plate processor, Idi Machine, Apple Mac, PC.

Working arrangements

  • 40 hours a week Monday - Friday.
  • Set 24 days annual leave + bank holidays.
  • £25,000-£30,000, Pension scheme, Uniform, On-site parking, Cycle to work scheme.
