We are working with one of the UK’s leading energy specialists, working across high and low voltage, renewables, and associated infrastructure. Due to continued growth and multiple contract wins, our client requires a HV Project Manager to lead and oversee high voltage electrical projects from initiation to completion, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
Responsibilities include:
- Project Planning and Coordination: Lead the planning and development of HV projects, including defining project objectives, scope, deliverables, and milestones. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and allocate resources effectively to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and internal teams. Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and proactively address concerns to ensure alignment and customer satisfaction.
- Resource Allocation and Management: Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to support project activities and deliverables. Manage project budgets, expenditures, and procurement processes, and ensure compliance with financial controls and reporting requirements.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise and guidance on HV systems, equipment, and installations, and resolve technical issues or challenges encountered during project execution. Review engineering designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and client requirements.
- Risk Management and Quality Assurance: Identify and assess project risks, including safety hazards, regulatory compliance, technical complexities, and resource constraints, and develop mitigation strategies. Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to monitor project performance, identify deviations from standards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Champion a culture of safety excellence and ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulations throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, and implement measures to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, change orders, and contractual agreements. Prepare and present regular project status updates, financial reports, and performance metrics to management and stakeholders.
Skills and Experience:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, project management, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous.
- Extensive experience in project management, with experience managing HV projects in the electrical utilities, construction, or engineering sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of HV systems, equipment, and installations, including switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and substation design.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, including managing complex projects, multi-disciplinary teams, and stakeholder relationships.
