An established, privately owned business based in Wolverhampton is seeking a Warehouse Leading Hand to act as deputy to the Warehouse Manager. The company is a long-standing specialist stockholder and distributor operating within the engineering sector. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offered initially on a 13-week Temp to Perm basis. It would suit an experienced warehouse operative looking to progress into a supervisory position, with the potential for future development into management. Rate of pay is dependent on experience, with a contributory pension scheme included.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Warehouse Manager in supervising and assisting warehouse staff during picking, packing and distribution operations.
- Ensure stock control and location procedures are followed to maintain accurate inventory management.
- Coordinate and monitor sub-contract processing in line with customer deadlines.
- Assist with administrative tasks including goods-in receipts and despatch documentation.
Essential Requirements
- Strong Maths and English skills
- Computer literate, including experience with Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent attention to detail
- Counterbalance and Reach FLT licence / experience
- Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision in a busy warehouse environment
- Strong team player able to liaise with sales, manufacturing, accounts and other departments
- Engineering or manufacturing background (required)
Desirable
- Experience using SAGE 200
- Supervisory training or qualifications (e.g., NEBSS)
- Knowledge of flange or pipework products
- Clean UK driving licence
