Role Overview

As a qualified MIG/TIG Welder, you will apply advanced welding techniques to fabricate high-quality pressure vessels and steel fabrications. You’ll ensure all welds meet strict specifications under BS EN and ASME standards, maintaining our commitment to unmatched quality and compliance

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel and stainless steel (e.g., P265GH, 430A, A516, 304L, 316L), vessel thickness up to 30 mm
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, welding procedure specs (WPS) and weld codes (e.g., BS EN ISO 15614‑1).
  • Prepare joints—including cleaning, grinding, fixturing—and set up welding parameters.
  • Execute welding in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead), ensuring minimal defects and optimal bead appearance.
  • Inspect weld quality using NDT methods (e.g., visual, hydrostatic, dye penetrant, radiographic).
  • Maintain welding equipment and shielding gas systems; monitor wire feed, gas flow, and electrode setups.
  • Adhere to all on-site health, safety, and environmental protocols (HSE, EPA standards).
  • Keep workspace clean, support team workflow, and assist with materials handling.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience using MIG and TIG welding on steel and stainless steel; experience with pressure vessel fabrication preferred.
  • Welding credentials compliant with BS EN ISO 9606‑1, BS EN 287‑1 or similar.
  • NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent welding qualification; apprenticeship/training background.
  • Strong skill in blueprint reading and precise measurement (micrometer, caliper).
  • Familiar with welding procedure specifications and relevant codes (PD 5500, EN 13445, ASME VIII).
  • Physically capable of heavy welding tasks and mindful of quality and safety.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and team collaboration.
