We are working with a leading national civil engineering contractor with a proven reputation in the water sector. The business plays a key role in the successful delivery of major frameworks for multiple water authorities across Wales, Southwest England, and Central England. With a robust pipeline of secured projects as part of the AMP8 programme, the company is strengthening its operational teams to support the continued delivery of high-value, technically demanding infrastructure works and require a General Foreman to join their team.

The General Foreman will take a frontline leadership role in the delivery of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects, typically valued between £5M and £30M. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving site productivity, managing subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering high standards of quality across all works. Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day site supervision of works on water infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with method statements and risk assessments.
  • Manage and coordinate site personnel, subcontractors, and resources.
  • Monitor progress and ensure the timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Oversee quality control and ensure that workmanship meets design specifications and client expectations.
  • Assist with planning and sequencing of works in collaboration with site and project managers.
  • Support the site team in resolving on-site issues and challenges proactively.
  • Maintain clear and accurate site records, daily diaries, and reporting documentation.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and environmental responsibility.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a General Foreman on civil engineering projects within the water sector (clean and/or wastewater).
  • Excellent knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid, and other relevant industry certifications.
