This role is within a precision engineering business with over 40 years’ experience producing quality-assured, precision-machined components for a variety of industrial sectors. They operate on modern CNC turning and machining centres, serving customers regularly across the UK. We pride ourselves on high quality, precision, and reliability.

They are currently looking for an experienced CNC Setter / Programmer / Operator to join the team. The successful candidate will work predominantly on multi-axis turning centres (all with Fanuc controls) and will be responsible for setting up, programming and operating machines to manufacture precision components to specification and quality standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set up multi-axis turning centres (Fanuc controlled) for production runs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
  • Write or edit CNC programs (where required) and optimise process flow for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Most of the work is machined on a regular basis from proved out programs.
  • Operate machines through the production run: loading, monitoring, unloading components.
  • Carry out quality checks and in-process inspections; ensure parts meet specification.
  • Maintain machine tooling, check setups, alignments, and carry out routine maintenance/housekeeping of machine area.
  • Collaborate with production/engineering team to resolve manufacturing issues, and suggest improvements for productivity or quality.
  • Document production activities, record outputs, downtime, scrap, tool changes, set-up times etc.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and company quality procedures at all times.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven significant experience working on CNC multi-axis turning centres with Fanuc controls in a production environment.
  • Ability to program, set up and operate machines independently (or with minimal supervision).
  • Strong experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and applying precision tolerances.
  • Good understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, fixture set-up and quality control.
  • Strong attention to detail, numerical aptitude and ability to work to tight tolerances and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills with an ability to work in a team and liaise with colleagues in production/engineering.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and organised, with a willingness to work within a manufacturing schedule.
  • Ideally able to work Monday to Thursday 07:00-17:00 plus occasional Friday morning overtime.
  • Relevant machining qualification or apprenticeship desirable but not mandatory if the hands-on experience is strong.
Working Hours
  • Basic working week: Monday to Thursday, 07:00 – 17:00 (38 hours).
  • Occasional Friday morning overtime (approx. 4 hours) as required.
  • Occasional shift to meet production demands may apply.
