Our client is a well-established and expanding engineering company based in the heart of Birmingham, currently seeking an experienced CNC professional to join their team as part of a wider drive to boost productivity and efficiency across the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on, varied position working on Fanuc or Mazak vertical machining centres (VMCs). You\’ll support daily CNC operations, provide cover when needed, and work closely with Manufacturing Engineers on lean and 5S projects aimed at improving processes and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, operate, and program CNC VMCs (Fanuc or Mazak controls)
- Program online at the control and prove out new jobs
- Provide absence and production cover when required
- Carry out TPM/PPM activities to maintain equipment performance
- Support and implement lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Collaborate with engineers to optimise machining processes
About You
You\’ll be an experienced CNC professional who enjoys producing high-quality work, solving problems, and contributing to continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience
- UK national (security clearance requirement)
- Completed apprenticeship to a minimum of Level 3
- Proven experience setting and running CNC machines
- Confident programming Fanuc VMCs
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including GD&T)
- Flexible, proactive, and team-oriented approach
Desirable (but not essential)
- Mazatrol experience
- Turning knowledge
- CAD/CAM exposure
- CMM operation
- Competency with MS Excel and Word
