We are currently working on behalf of a well-established and highly reputable civils and building contractor based in the West Midlands, who are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager on a permanent basis.
The initial project is an earthworks scheme in North Birmingham, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to work with a contractor known for delivering quality projects across the region.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to specification. You will lead site teams, manage subcontractors and act as the key point of contact on site.
Typical duties will include:
- Reading, interpreting and working from construction drawings
- Day-to-day site management of earthworks and civils activities
- Managing and supervising subcontractors and direct labour
- Client liaison and maintaining strong working relationships
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Producing progress reports and updating senior management
- Managing site records, RAMS and permits
- Directly managing team members including a Foreman
- Reporting into a visiting Contracts Manager
About You
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within groundworks and civils
- Strong earthworks project background preferred
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Confident managing site teams and subcontractors
- Good understanding of H&S legislation and best practice
- Able to work independently and take ownership of your site
Qualifications & Certifications
- SMSTS
- CSCS (Black or Gold preferred)
- First Aid at Work
- Relevant civils / construction qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
