LOCATION: The Community Village, Rock Ferry, Wirral

OVERVIEW: Involve Northwest is a not-for-profit organisation based in Wirral that delivers essential support to improve the quality of life for individuals and families.

OUR BOARD: Our Board is engaged, committed and passionate about the charity, overseeing service delivery, financial management, diversification of services, and strategic growth.

OUR BOARD’S REQUIREMENTS:

  • Finance or accountancy expertise
  • Human resources and people management experience
  • Income generation, commercial fundraising, marketing, social media and communications skills
  • Lived experience of the services we supply or issues we address

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to serve as a Board Member/Trustee of a charity.
  • No unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty or deception.
  • Not declared bankrupt or subject to bankruptcy restrictions.
  • No individual voluntary arrangement with a creditor.
  • Not removed or disqualified as a company director or charity trustee because of wrongdoing.
  • Not disqualified or barred from acting as a trustee under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.

REMUNERATION: Unpaid; expenses consistent with the Charity’s Trustee Expenses Policy will be reimbursed.

TIME COMMITMENT: The Board meets in person and online. Typical commitments include:

  • Attending at least four in-person Board meetings per year (≈3 hours each), plus advance reading and preparation.
  • Annual Away Day incorporating the AGM (≈6 hours) plus preparation.
  • Leading a working group on a particular area (e.g., safeguarding, finance, EDI, fundraising/communications) as per board needs and trustee interests.
  • Occasional additional meetings (e.g., recruitment panels, urgent decisions) which may be in-person or online.

TERM LENGTH: Initial term: 3 years. Reappointment: possible upon re-election. Process: as set out in the Charity’s Articles of Association.

LEGAL DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Trustees are collectively accountable for financial and operational oversight, delivery of the charity’s objectives, and strategic planning, in accordance with sections 170-177 of the Companies Act 2006, charity law, and the Nolan Principles.
