We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Assistant to support our project and site teams across a range of construction projects. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in health and safety within construction, working closely with our Health & Safety Manager to help maintain high standards of safety, compliance and best practice across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of health & safety procedures across our construction sites
  • Assisting with site inspections, audits and safety checks to ensure compliance with company policies and legislation
  • Helping to prepare and maintain RAMS, risk assessments and method statements
  • Assisting with accident, incident and near-miss reporting and investigations
  • Supporting toolbox talks, site inductions and safety briefings
  • Monitoring subcontractor compliance with health & safety requirements
  • Ensuring health & safety documentation is up to date and correctly filed
  • Assisting with the implementation of corrective actions following audits or inspections
  • Promoting a positive health & safety culture across our sites
  • Liaising with site teams to address health & safety concerns promptly

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a health & safety or site-based role within construction (desirable)
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in health & safety
  • Good understanding of UK health & safety legislation and site practices
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage site teams
  • Well organised with good attention to detail
  • Able to work across multiple sites when required
  • Proactive and willing to learn

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or working towards (desirable)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (advantageous)
  • CSCS card (required or working towards)
