We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK construction and engineering contractor specialising in complex and technically demanding projects. The business undertakes specialist works including civil engineering, concrete structures, remediation, demolition and enabling packages, often operating in highly controlled and regulated environments.
The contractor is recognised for its strong focus on safety, quality and programme delivery, working closely with clients, consultants and specialist subcontractors on sensitive and high-security projects, including Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) sites.
We are seeking a skilled Fire Stopper to join the team on an AWE project in Bristol. This role focuses on installing passive fire protection systems to prevent the spread of fire and smoke, including fire stopping works around services, penetrations and compartment walls.
You will work under the direction of the Site Supervisor (Fire Protection), ensuring all fire stopping works are installed safely, on programme, and fully compliant with regulatory and project specifications. Security clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities- Installing fire stopping materials around penetrations, service routes, and compartment walls
- Ensuring all works comply with drawings, specifications and relevant fire safety standards
- Following RAMS and maintaining a high standard of health & safety on site
- Working closely with site management and other trades to coordinate works
- Conducting inspections and checks to ensure fire stopping compliance
- Maintaining accurate records of works and materials used
- Participating in toolbox talks and site safety briefings
- Proven experience as a Fire Stopper or in passive fire protection installation
- Strong understanding of fire stopping systems, materials and installation methods
- Knowledge of relevant fire safety regulations and standards
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, live construction environment
- Security clearance is essential for this role
- CSCS Card (essential)
- FIRAS, BM TRADA or equivalent passive fire protection qualification (desirable)
- Health & Safety training (e.g., SSSTS/SMSTS or similar) is a plus
