About the Role A leading specialist contractor operating across the European data centre sector is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. The organisation delivers large-scale, technically complex data centre projects across multiple European locations, providing turnkey construction solutions from project development through to completion. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of new projects, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor with experience working within a fast-paced construction or engineering environment. This is an opportunity to work on major critical infrastructure projects, taking responsibility for the commercial management of projects and packages from procurement through to final account. Key Responsibilities * Manage the commercial and financial aspects of designated project packages from procurement through to completion. * Lead and support the procurement of subcontractor and supplier packages, ensuring scopes are fully defined and technically complete. * Prepare and review tender documentation, analyse returns and support the negotiation and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers. * Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring commercial obligations, payment processes and contractual requirements are maintained. * Manage subcontractor valuations, applications for payment, variations and change control. * Maintain accurate cost records and provide regular commercial reporting against project budgets and forecasts. * Monitor project expenditure and assist the Project Director and wider project team with maintaining control of the overall project budget. * Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities and potential cost exposures throughout the project lifecycle. * Review and assess changes to scope, ensuring all variations are properly documented, valued and agreed. * Prepare monthly valuations, cost reports and commercial forecasts in line with project requirements. * Manage the commercial relationship with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining clear and effective communication throughout the project. * Assist with the preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accounts. * Ensure commercial documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with contractual and company procedures. * Work closely with project management, engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure commercial matters are aligned with programme and delivery requirements. * Support the successful commercial close-out of projects, ensuring outstanding variations, claims, payments and final accounts are resolved. Requirements * Minimum 5 years' experience working in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within the construction or engineering sector. * Previous experience within a mechanical and electrical contracting environment would be highly advantageous. * Previous data centre experience would be a significant advantage, although candidates from other technically complex construction environments will be considered. * Relevant Level 8 degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline. * Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts. * Commercially aware with the ability to identify financial risks and opportunities. * Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple commercial priorities. * Excellent communication and negotiation skills when dealing with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. * Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, technically complex project environment. * Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to commercial management. * Willingness and ability to work on major project sites, including potential travel or European project assignments where required
