The Opportunity A growing specialist passive fire protection contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Fire Door Surveyor to support its expanding workload across the Midlands. The business delivers a wide range of passive fire protection services across varied sectors, including healthcare, education, high-rise residential, commercial, industrial, social housing and public sector developments. The role will be predominantly fire door focused, involving visits to client sites to inspect existing fire doors, identify defects and non-compliance, and produce detailed survey reports outlining the remedial works required. Experience in fire compartmentation surveys would also be advantageous, given the wider range of passive fire protection services delivered by the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically knowledgeable surveyor seeking a varied workload, a competitive package and the opportunity to work with a growing specialist contractor. Key Responsibilities * Conduct fire door surveys across a varied portfolio of projects throughout the Midlands. * Inspect existing fire doors, frames, seals, hinges, closers, glazing and associated ironmongery to identify defects and compliance issues. * Assess installations against relevant standards, specifications and fire safety requirements. * Compile accurate, detailed survey reports, documenting defects, remedial requirements and recommended actions. * Use BORIS to record survey findings, manage information and produce reports where required. * Identify remedial works and provide clear, practical recommendations to support subsequent repair, replacement or upgrading works. * Liaise with clients, site teams and other stakeholders to discuss findings and clarify remedial requirements. * Manage your own workload, plan site visits and ensure survey reports are completed within agreed timescales. * Maintain accurate records and ensure all survey findings are documented clearly and consistently. Requirements * Previous experience undertaking fire door surveys, inspections or technical assessments. * Strong understanding of fire door components, installation requirements, defects and remedial works. * Ability to identify non-compliant installations and produce clear, comprehensive survey reports. * Experience with BORIS would be beneficial, although previous experience using the system is not essential. * Experience undertaking fire compartmentation surveys would be advantageous. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and site teams. * A methodical, organised approach with good attention to detail. * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to projects throughout the Midlands.
