A market-leading MEP Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their established commercial and procurement team based on a major project in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering multiple high-profile mechanical and electrical packages across this major manufacturing facility, with package values in excess of £20 million.
You will be responsible for leading procurement strategies across this multi-phased scheme set to run for 5+ years, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, plant, and subcontract packages while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage procurement of mechanical and electrical materials across multiple projects
- Source and negotiate subcontract packages including specialist M&E services
- Develop and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships
- Secure best value through strategic purchasing and negotiation
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and material availability
- Collaborate closely with commercial, operational, and project delivery teams
- Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets and timelines
- Support risk management and supply chain resilience strategies
- Proven experience as a Senior Buyer, Buyer, or Procurement Manager within the M&E / MEP sector
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services procurement
- Experience procuring both materials and subcontract packages
- Background working with MEP contractors or major building services companies
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ideally based within commutable distance to Bristol
