American Sign Language (ASL) – AI Trainer

We are seeking ASL specialists who are fluent in American Sign Language, familiar with Deaf culture, visual linguistics, ASL grammar and syntax, non-manual markers, fingerspelling, and regional variations. Your role will involve challenging advanced language models on topics such as ASL-to-English translation, classifier usage, receptive and expressive skills, facial expressions, and spatial grammar. You will document error modes to help improve the models.

Daily tasks include conversing with the model on real-world ASL scenarios, verifying linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness, capturing error traces, and suggesting prompt and evaluation improvements.

Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Deaf Studies, Sign Language Interpreting, Linguistics, or related fields; RID certification, teaching experience, or community interpreting projects are advantageous. Clear, metacognitive communication is essential.

We offer a pay range of $8 to $65 per hour, determined by experience, expertise, and location. As a contractor, you will provide a secure computer and high-speed internet. Benefits such as health insurance and PTO are not included.
