We are looking for Afrikaans experts to record short scripted reads. Think light voice acting/voiceover: clean diction, natural delivery, and consistent quality. We need expressive and conversational talent with a quiet space and a decent mic.

Project Overview

We’ll record short lines and paragraphs in Afrikaans, with various tones (friendly, neutral, authoritative). Participate in paired or group script readings typically around 5 minutes. Follow direction, retake as needed for timing, emphasis, and clarity. Submit clean, well‑labeled audio files on schedule.

Target Profile

Near‑native proficiency in Afrikaans and strong, easy‑to‑understand speech.

Must speak two languages well (preferably non‑English). Must have native fluency in the listed language, and either:

• Equal proficiency in the other language
• Near native in the other language
• Working proficiency in the other language

What You’ll Do

• Record short lines and paragraphs in your dominant language (various tones: friendly, neutral, authoritative).
• Participate in paired or group script readings with other Afrikaans‑speakers, typically short scripts of around 5 minutes.
• Follow direction and retake as needed for timing, emphasis, and clarity.
• Submit clean, well‑labeled audio files on schedule.

Requirements

• Native‑level fluency in your language and strong, easy‑to‑understand speech.
• Silent recording environment (no background noise, echo, or hum).
• Crisp audio: a good microphone (USB/XLR) is a big plus, stable setup, pop filter if possible.
• Ability to follow briefs and take notes on pronunciation or style.

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Prior VO/voice‑acting, podcasting, or on‑mic experience.
• Basic audio hygiene (steady levels, consistent mic distance). No heavy editing required — just clean, raw takes.

Compensation & Contract

Pay range: $8 to $65 per hour, depending on experience, expertise, and geographic location. As a contractor, you’ll supply your own secure computer, high‑quality microphone and recording setup, and stable internet connection. Company‑sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
