Invictus UK 2027 is a charity and delivery organisation for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, taking place in July 2027 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
Founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games uses adaptive sport to support the recovery of Wounded, Injured, and Sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans.
Birmingham 2027 will bring together 550 competitors from over 25 nations across 12 sports.
The Games aim to celebrate recovery, resilience and social impact for competitors, families and the wider community.
Role
Summary: We are looking to appoint a Family & Friends Coordinator to support the delivery of the Family & Friends element of the 2027 Invictus Games.
This role ensures that the family & friends of competitors have the most beneficial experience possible.
Approximately 1500 family & friends will be involved, and the Coordinator will support all aspects of planning and delivery of the Games Time programme including activities and experiences on and off-site.
Based in our Birmingham office, you will work in close collaboration with the Family & Friends Lead, the Participating Nations Lead, the Operations team and the wider Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 team.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate IG27’s involvement with the family and friends of all participating nations.
- Design and deliver a programme of activities and experiences for approximately 1500 family and friends to ensure a positive Invictus experience.
- Coordinate arrival and departure of all nations’ family and friends.
- Assist in planning accommodation, catering, accreditation and wider operational areas related to family and friends across all competition venues and hotel sites.
- Support the production of the Participating Nations and Family & Friends guides.
- Support the production of a Games Time programme of activity for all client groups within the Participating Nations.
- Coordinate the team, including volunteers at Games Time, to deliver the programme.
- Assist with other Operations owned workstreams as needed.
- Key Relationships
- Work with the Family & Friends lead to deliver all aspects of the family and friends provision.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with each Nation’s family and friends lead and staff.
- Develop a network of external stakeholders to support the family and friends programme, with a focus on West Midlands attractions and activities.
- Collaborate with IG27 staff and wider partners to ensure successful delivery of the family and friends programme.

Experience
- Essential: Experience in a similar role, ideally in the Birmingham and West Midlands area.
- Essential: Proven track record of supporting the design and delivery of a similar people-focused programme.
- Essential: At least 3 years’ operational experience within major sporting events.
- Desirable: Previous experience of adaptive sport and events.
Skills
- Essential: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
