The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a site-based engineering team within a critical environment. The role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, ensuring all mechanical systems operate safely, reliably, and to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their career in a highly regulated environment with strong long-term progression and training opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical PPMs and reactive maintenance
  • Fault finding and repair of mechanical plant and systems, including pumps, valves, motors, and associated equipment
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately and on time
  • Support site uptime and reliability within a critical environment
  • Work effectively as part of a shift-based engineering team

Salary & Benefits

  • Starting salary: £47,500
  • Salary increase to £50,000 following successful completion of a technical assessment (approx. 6 months)
  • 20 days annual leave, shift-based

Security & Eligibility Requirements

Due to the nature of the site, candidates must:

  • Have been a UK resident for at least 5 years
  • Successfully pass BPSS and SC clearance

About You

  • Mechanical engineering background
  • Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance
  • Comfortable working a continental shift pattern
  • Experience in a critical or high-compliance environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
