M&E Estimator
Location: Central London
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Working Pattern: Office-based
A well-established and financially stable independent building contractor is looking for an experienced M&E Estimator to join their preconstruction team, working on prestigious commercial projects across London.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive M&E tenders up to approximately £2m, working closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
The Role:
You will report to the Preconstruction Manager and manage projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission, supporting negotiations and ensuring a smooth handover to the delivery team.
Key responsibilities:
Preparing M&E tender packages and first-principles pricing up to £2m.
Producing detailed cost plans and estimating preliminaries.
Issuing enquiries and analysing supplier/subcontractor quotations.
Carrying out take-offs from drawings and specifications.
Attending site surveys and client/supply chain meetings.
Working closely with Building Estimators on joint bids.
Supporting negotiations, supplier selection and tender close-out.
Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in M&E estimating within an M&E contracting or installation environment, with excellent commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
Essential experience:
Minimum 5 years' M&E estimating experience.
Proven experience pricing tenders up to approximately £2m.
Strong knowledge of M&E building services and commercial projects.
Experience with take-off and estimating software.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Commercial and risk management awareness.
An HNC or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering would be advantageous, as would knowledge of MTC, JCT and NEC contracts.
