The Opportunity:
We are working with a leading UK building services organisation to recruit an experienced
Business Development Manager
to join their growing Business Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional with a strong understanding of
M&E engineering, building services and technical compliance
to develop new business opportunities across the North West and Midlands. You will be responsible for identifying and securing new opportunities, developing strategic client relationships and working closely with operational and estimating teams to deliver commercially strong solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Identify, develop and secure new M&E maintenance and technical compliance opportunities across target sectors. Build strong relationships with managing agents, property owners, asset managers, surveyors, consultants and occupiers. Develop strategic account plans to generate new business and expand existing client relationships. Attend client meetings, networking events, industry functions and site visits to identify and convert opportunities. Engage confidently with technical consultants and stakeholders, demonstrating a strong understanding of M&E engineering and statutory compliance. Review client specifications, maintenance requirements and tender documentation to identify commercial opportunities and risks. Work collaboratively with operational and estimating teams to develop competitive and commercially viable solutions. Contribute to pricing strategies and challenge commercial assumptions where appropriate. Lead and coordinate high-quality tenders, proposals and presentations. Conduct site surveys and gather technical and commercial information to support bids and solution development. Deliver persuasive presentations to prospective clients and senior decision-makers. Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to generate repeat and long-term business. Monitor market activity, competitor offerings and industry trends to identify new opportunities. Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting and client information within the CRM system. Support a smooth transition from contract award through to operational delivery. Represent the business professionally across the property and facilities management sectors. Achieve agreed sales, pipeline and business development targets.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have: An engineering qualification or strong engineering/technical experience. Proven experience within business development, sales or commercial roles within M&E, building services, facilities management or a related sector. A strong understanding of M&E maintenance and technical compliance. Experience working with
Maximo or similar CAFM systems . Experience responding to
OJEU/Public Sector tenders . An established network across the
North West and Midlands . Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and convert opportunities. Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills. The confidence to engage with technical consultants, clients and senior stakeholders. A proactive, target-driven and consultative approach to business development. What's on Offer:
