We are seeking a highly polished, commercially astute Account Director to lead engineering operations at a large, complex, and highly regulated static site. This is a senior leadership role requiring a strong corporate mindset, exceptional stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive performance across a multidisciplinary technical team.
The Role
As Account Director, you will hold full responsibility for the strategic and operational delivery of engineering services on-site. You will oversee a team of approximately 20 professionals, including Engineers, Supervisors, Engineering Managers, and a Project Manager. Acting as the primary client interface, you will be accountable for maintaining a strong, professional relationship, ensuring service excellence, and consistently aligning delivery with client expectations and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible, authoritative leadership across all engineering functions on-site
- Manage and develop a team of ~20 staff, ensuring high performance, engagement, and accountability
- Act as the senior point of contact for the client, building and maintaining a credible, trusted partnership
- Lead regular client meetings, performance reviews, and strategic discussions
- Proactively manage client expectations, resolve escalations, and ensure high levels of satisfaction
- Own the P&L for the account, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance standards
- Drive operational excellence, service delivery improvements, and innovation initiatives
- Oversee project delivery in partnership with the Project Manager, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
- Implement and maintain robust reporting structures, KPIs, and performance metrics
- Lead on risk management, health & safety, and business continuity planning
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior account leadership role within engineering, facilities management, or a related technical environment
- Demonstrated experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams in a corporate setting
- Strong track record of direct client engagement and relationship management at a senior level
- Strong commercial acumen with P&L responsibility
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Highly structured, process-driven, and comfortable within a formal corporate environment
- Strong understanding of compliance, health & safety, and operational governance
- Degree-qualified or equivalent in an engineering or related discipline (preferred)

£80,000 - £90,000 base salary
