An opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Shift Engineer to join the on-site engineering team in Stratford, one of the UK’s flagship retail and leisure destinations.
This role suits a strong, hands-on M&E engineer with an electrical bias or a mechanically qualified engineer who is genuinely multi-skilled and comfortable working in a large, live environment.
The RoleYou will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the shopping centre’s infrastructure and facilities, ensuring all systems remain fully operational, compliant, and safe.
Key responsibilities include:- Maintenance and fault-finding on M&E building services systems
- Electrical works including lighting, small power, and compliance testing
- Mechanical plant including AHUs, FCUs, pumps, plumbing, and water systems
- Carrying out PPM schedules and responding to reactive issues
- Supporting statutory and compliance requirements
- Working within a customer-facing, high-footfall environment
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Electrical bias with Level 3 qualification, or Mechanical Level 3 qualification with proven multi-skilled experience
- Background in commercial building services, retail, or large estates
- Strong fault-finding ability across electrical and mechanical systems
- A professional, safety-conscious approach to shift work
- Salary up to £46,000
- 25 shift days of annual leave
- Structured Pitman shift pattern (clear work/life rotation)
- Stable, long-term role on a major commercial site
