We are currently recruiting for a skilled and reliable Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer seeking a permanent daytime role with excellent stability and career progression opportunities.
The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a range of mechanical equipment and machinery across site operations. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery performance, reliability, and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on production equipment
- Work on pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, and pneumatic systems
- Support continuous improvement and reliability projects
- Ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely
- Assist with installations and equipment upgrades
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent)
- Previous experience within manufacturing, production, or industrial environments
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics desirable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations
