Purpose of the Job

  • To lead electrical operations within a 24/7 critical site environment, ensuring maximum uptime, safety, and compliance at all times.
  • To act as the senior electrical authority on shift, managing incidents, isolations, and escalations in a mission-critical setting.
  • To provide strong leadership to shift engineers while maintaining hands-on technical involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate on a continental shift pattern covering days & nights: 4 on / 4 off / 6 on / 4 off / 4 on / 6 off.
  • Act as the Electrical Shift Leader within a live critical environment.
  • Lead, coordinate, and support engineers on shift to ensure safe working and site resilience.
  • Carry out and oversee PPM and reactive maintenance on critical electrical systems.
  • Operate, supervise, or support HV & LV systems (where authorised).
  • Act as the primary escalation point for electrical faults, alarms, and incidents.
  • Ensure accurate shift handovers, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Mentor and develop technicians, including those stepping up into leadership roles.

Personal Experience / Qualifications / Skills

  • Strong electrical background within critical environments (Data Centres, Banking, Hospitals, Pharma, etc.).
  • Previous experience as an HV/LV Authorised Person highly desirable (not essential).
  • Previous Shift Leader / Senior Technician experience preferred.
  • Will consider Senior Technicians ready to step up into a leadership position.
  • Calm under pressure with strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capability.

Working Hours & Salary Package

  • Shift pattern: Continental Days & Nights.
  • Salary: £55,000 – £60,000.

Accountabilities

  • Accountable to the Engineering / Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for electrical safety, uptime, and compliance across the critical site during shift.
  • Line management responsibility for shift engineers while on duty.
