We are currently recruiting for a Lead Shift Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a leading Facilities Management and Engineering Maintenance provider at a modern, multi-floor commercial laboratory facility in Blackfriars, London. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a lead technical role within a highly specialist and critical environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of building services within a busy commercial laboratory setting, working independently while maintaining high standards of engineering excellence.

As a Lead Shift Engineer (Electrical Bias), you will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring all electrical and building services systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across electrical systems and building services
- Responding to reactive maintenance and emergency breakdowns
- Fault finding, diagnostics, and repair of electrical systems and equipment
- Maintaining lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, and associated building services infrastructure
- Supporting statutory compliance, health & safety, and site operational standards
- Taking full ownership of shift operations as the sole engineer on duty
- Working within a critical commercial laboratory environment with high operational standards
- Maintaining accurate records and completing all required maintenance documentation
- Liaising with site stakeholders where required to ensure smooth operations
Candidate Requirements
- Recognised electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Strong experience in electrical maintenance within commercial or critical environments
- Proven PPM and reactive maintenance background
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical systems
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of site operations
- Good understanding of building services engineering
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to maintenance
- Previous shift-based experience within facilities management or building services
Package & Benefits
- £58,500 total package
- 4 on / 4 off shift pattern (days & nights rotation)
- 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00)
