A globally recognised facilities management organisation, renowned for technical excellence, internal progression, and structured development pathways, is recruiting an experienced Shift Leader to oversee engineering operations at a mission-critical corporate site in the City of London.
This is a hands-on, technically demanding leadership role within a business-critical environment where resilience, uptime, and compliance are paramount.
Responsibilities- Have full responsibility for the safe operation, maintenance, and performance of critical M&E infrastructure during your shift.
- Lead a team of engineers, ensuring all plant and systems operate within agreed parameters while maintaining zero-compromise standards around safety and reliability.
- Act as the senior technical authority on shift, managing incidents, isolations, permits, and escalations in a high-pressure, client-facing environment.
- Lead and coordinate a shift engineering team within a critical environment.
- Act as Authorised Person or senior operational support for HV/LV systems, including switching, isolations, and safe systems of work.
- Ensure continuous availability of critical systems including UPS, generators, HV/LV distribution, switchgear, and associated plant.
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fault response.
- Manage critical incidents, alarms, and fault rectification to minimise business impact.
- Ensure strict adherence to RAMS, permit systems, and statutory compliance.
- Maintain detailed shift logs, reports, and handovers.
- Act as a key technical interface between the client, management, and engineering teams.
- Support training, mentoring, and technical development of shift engineers.
- Proven experience working in a critical or mission-critical environment (corporate, data centre, banking, or similar).
- High Voltage (HV) experience is essential (authorised or previously authorised).
- Strong electrical bias with solid understanding of mechanical plant.
- Demonstrable leadership or supervisory experience within FM or building services.
- Excellent fault-finding, decision-making, and escalation management skills.
- Calm, methodical approach in high-risk, high-pressure environments.
- Salary up to £65,000.
