Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern (Days & Nights, 7am–7pm / 7pm–7am)

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Shift Engineer to join a prestigious commercial property in Canary Wharf. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-profile building environment, offering ongoing training, career progression, and the chance to develop your technical expertise within a market-leading facilities management team.

As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems across a large commercial estate, ensuring all plant and equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC, pumps, motors, pipework, valves, AHUs, FCUs, and associated mechanical plant.
  • Respond promptly to building faults and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
  • Conduct routine plant inspections and record operational data.
  • Support subcontractors and specialist service providers when required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and site procedures.
  • Accurately complete maintenance reports and documentation through the CAFM system.
  • Participate in site emergency response procedures and shift handovers.

Requirements:

  • Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, Apprenticeship, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working within commercial building maintenance, critical environments, or facilities management.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
  • Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work a continental shift pattern covering days and nights.
