Invictus are seeking an experienced General Maintenance Operative on behalf of a specialist engineering team within the Facilities Management (FM) industry, working at an iconic, high-profile building in Brighton, West Sussex. This is a client-facing role within a professional environment, where members of the client organisation and the general public regularly use the facilities. A high standard of workmanship, presentation, and communication is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across the site
- Planned (PPM) building inspections & repairs of fire doors (locks, hinges, door handles)
- Basic plumbing/water system PPM
- Carpentry works, including doors, locks, fixtures, and fittings
- Handyperson duties - general building repairs to ceiling tiles and holes in walls
- Providing support to soft services team when required, maintaining a tidy site and workplace
- Accurately recording works completed in line with site procedures
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a fabric or facilities maintenance role
- Competent in basic plumbing, carpentry, and general handyperson tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Professional, customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider engineering team
Security & Compliance Requirements
Due to the nature of the site, successful candidates must be able to pass an Enhanced DBS check.
