Site Engineer – Building Services

Location: Birmingham Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 DOE Call Out: 1 week in 4 (£200 standby payment) Additional Earnings: Appointed Person allowance of up to £2,500 per annum

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established facilities maintenance provider looking to strengthen its engineering team with a customer-focused and technically skilled engineer.

You'll be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse portfolio of building services equipment while building strong relationships with clients.

The Role

As a Site Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of building services systems.

Working independently, you'll carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a variety of electrical and mechanical plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a wide range of building services plant and equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC, chillers, pumps, generators and high voltage (HV) electrical systems.
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to the client.
  • Complete all work in line with health and safety legislation, company procedures and industry best practice.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and a professional approach.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, service reports and compliance documentation using the company's maintenance management system.
  • Monitor plant performance, identifying potential issues before they develop into critical failures.
  • Assist with minor installation works and equipment upgrades where required.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to a high standard.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (1 week in 4) and attend emergency call-outs when required.
  • Continue developing your technical knowledge, including working towards Appointed Person status where appropriate.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have

  • Previous experience within Building Services or Facilities Management.
  • A recognised electrical qualification together with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

  • High Voltage (HV) electrical systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Chillers
  • Pumps
  • Generators
  • The ability to plan, organise and complete maintenance tasks independently.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach and a strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as an Appointed Person, or the willingness to work towards the qualification.
