Location: Slough, Berkshire

Purpose of the Job

  • To provide 24/7 operational and maintenance support at a brand-new, state-of-the-art data centre in Slough.
  • To ensure electrical and mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with critical site requirements.
  • To deliver both reactive and planned maintenance while maintaining uptime and compliance in a critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate as part of a shift team, maintaining and supporting data centre infrastructure around the clock.
  • Perform fault finding, reactive maintenance, and PPM on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Work safely on LV and HV systems (where authorised), supporting critical power operations.
  • Accurately complete maintenance logs, shift handovers, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain competency and certification.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of site safety and compliance.

Personal Experience / Qualifications / Skills

  • Previous experience in critical environments such as data centres, banking, or pharma sites.
  • HV and LV electrical experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical plant, generators, and associated systems.
  • Ability to work effectively on shift patterns in a team-oriented environment.
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and safety-conscious approach.

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Shift pattern: 24/7 shift working (details discussed at interview)
  • Salary: £54,590 per annum + £3,000 shift allowance = £57,590 total
  • Parking available on site
  • Modern, high-spec facility including engineer amenities (tea room, pool table, etc.)

Accountabilities

  • Accountable to the Shift Supervisor / Engineering Manager.
  • No direct line management responsibility.
  • Responsible for ensuring uptime, safety, and compliance of all critical site systems.
