A rewarding one-to-one role supporting a teenage girl in her family home We are looking for a kind, reliable and enthusiastic female support worker to join a small, established team supporting a teenage girl with complex needs.

She has Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Epilepsy and is non-speaking. She has a fantastic personality and communicates in lots of different ways, including using an AAC communication device.

She loves music, Disney, swimming, sensory activities, being outdoors and spending time with people who really take the time to get to know her.

This is a dedicated one-to-one role rather than working across multiple clients, giving you the opportunity to really get to know the young person you support and become an important part of a small and consistent team.

The role

We are looking for someone to work 2-3 regular waking nights per week, from 9:00pm-8:30am.

Nights are generally calm and follow an established routine, but due to epilepsy, a waking carer is required to remain alert and responsive throughout the shift.

  • Monitoring and responding appropriately to seizure activity
  • Supporting medication, with full client-specific training
  • Supporting sleep and settling when required
  • Personal care
  • Supporting communication using AAC
  • Positioning and individual therapy/sensory programmes
  • Morning personal care and getting ready for the day
  • Breakfast and morning medication
  • Completing appropriate care records.

There may also be opportunities to work additional shifts to cover annual leave and sickness.

A fantastic working environment

Care is provided within a lovely family home with a large, purpose-built adapted area designed specifically around the young person's needs.

This includes an adapted bedroom and wet room, a large purpose-built therapy and sensory space, specialist equipment and comfortable facilities for the care team.

A huge amount of thought has gone into creating an environment that works brilliantly for the young person while also being a comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable place for her team to work.

Who are we looking for?

Experience of complex care, epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, Autism or supporting children and young people with additional needs would be an advantage. However, we also place enormous importance on finding someone with the right personality and attitude.

Kind, patient and caring

Extremely reliable and dependable

Calm and confident

Observant and willing to learn the young person's individual communication

Comfortable working independently

Able to work well as part of a small established team

Looking for a consistent, long-term role

Genuinely interested in getting to know and building a relationship with the young person they support

Full client-specific clinical training is provided, together with ongoing competency support and 24/7 clinical backup.

We are happy to consider applicants looking for either two or three regular nights per week and can discuss the working pattern with the successful candidate. Additional hours may also be available for holiday and sickness cover.

  • Day Support- 1-2 afternoons per week/Permanent

Looking for a support role that's a little bit different?

We are looking for a warm, fun and reliable female support worker to join a small, established team supporting a teenage girl with complex needs in her family home.

She is a happy and engaging young person with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Epilepsy. She is non-speaking and communicates in lots of different ways, including using an AAC communication device.

She loves music, Disney, swimming, sensory activities, being outdoors, trips out and having fun.

This is a dedicated one-to-one role where getting to know the young person you support is just as important as providing excellent care.

We're looking for somebody who will take the time to understand her communication, learn what makes her laugh, recognise her choices and preferences and help her enjoy an active and fulfilling life.

What might a typical shift involve?

Every day is a little different. You might be:

  • Supporting after school
  • Going swimming
  • Attending therapy or other activities
  • Going to the park or out into the community
  • Enjoying music and sensory activities
  • Using a fantastic purpose-built therapy and sensory space
  • Supporting communication and use of AAC
  • Incorporating therapy programmes into everyday activities
  • Supporting meals and medication
  • Providing personal care
  • Spending time doing the things she enjoys

There may also be opportunities for additional hours covering other members of the team and occasionally supporting the young person and her family on holidays and short breaks.
