Schroders’ two-year apprenticeship programmes give school and college leavers a hands‑on introduction to investment management and the opportunity to develop key skills, gain professional qualifications and build an industry network. We have a wide range of opportunities across our business.
The Team
On this programme, you’ll be part of the Investment transactions team within our Legal department. The team is made up of lawyers and paralegals. An enthusiastic, proactive apprentice who is interested in gaining experience in a broad, challenging and rewarding full‑service role. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, a can‑do mentality and commercial approach, be inquisitive and able to develop creative legal solutions. They will learn to assess business and legal risk, to prioritise workload demands. They will need strong interpersonal and communication skills to build constructive working relationships with various internal stakeholders and external advisers.
What you’ll do:
- Working on iManage database system (internal documentation storage system)
- Upload, input and check trading agreements on iManage
- Supporting Schroders legal team; keeping track of the work done.
- Assisting with locating documentation in iManage for other teams.
- Monitoring the investment transactions teams in box and responding to queries.
- Preparing sign off sheets and arranging for documents to be signed.
- Liaising clearly and openly with line manager and with all departments/areas using derivatives.
- Able to develop and demonstrate strong working relationships with other members of the business across the firm including (but not limited to) fund managers, client directors, compliance, operations, credit/risk and product control; and with counterparty lawyers, credit, operational and front office staff.
Who we’re looking for:
- Are living in England and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years prior to the apprenticeship start date
- Will be aged 18 or over by 7 September 2026
- Are a recent school or college leaver (A-levels, BTECs or equivalent), or are unsure whether university is the right path for you
- Are not enrolled in another government‑funded apprenticeship or further education programme when you start with us
- Are ambitious and enthusiastic, eager to learn about the industry
- Flexible with a keen eye for detail and good IT skills including Word, basic Excel
- Natural flair for developing relationships and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Qualifications required:
- A-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects – no minimum UCAS points required.
- Level 2 in both English and Maths (GCSE grade 9‑4 or equivalent) for those undertaking a level 3 or higher apprenticeship.
